Resumo:
In 2020, a pandemic, known as the new coronavirus pandemic, shook the world and the country, also affecting the northeast. Besides highlighting the disparities, the pandemic resulted in an economic and social crisis, imposing the need for a set of measures, such as: those of social isolation to prevent the proliferation of the virus and those associated with the protection of employment and income. The present study aims to analyze the importance of emergency aid and the impact of the pandemic on per capita household income inequality (DPR), measured by the Gini index, based on data from PNAD COVID19, for all states in the northeast region. To achieve this objective, we used as a data source, the monthly microdata from the national household sample survey - PNAD COVID19. From the results obtained, the presence of the emergency aid in 2020 points to an initial tendency to reduce income inequality in all states of the northeast, followed by a reversion at the end of the period analysed
