Abstract: Introduction: Cancer is one of the main global public health issues. It impacts individuals'
occupational roles, thus Occupational Therapy stands out as a potential ally in caring for people with this
condition, which can also be performed in Primary Health Care. Objective: To reflect on possible actions of
occupational therapists within the scope of Primary Health Care in addressing the issue of cancer, drawing
on lessons from the work of these professionals at other levels of health care and practices carried out by
other professional categories in Primary Health Care. Methods: This is a theoretical study conducted
through a bibliographic survey of articles and regulatory documents linking the themes 'Occupational
Therapy', 'Oncology', and 'Primary Care'. Results and Discussion: Based on the dialogue among the
findings, we discuss possibilities for interventions in the context of (1) Health Promotion and Disease
Prevention; (2) Home Care and Family Care; and (3) Care Management and Continuing Education. It was
found that in other levels of health care, the practices of occupational therapists with this audience are
already established, necessitating the integration of core knowledge and field practice so that oncological
care in this context is effectively implemented. Conclusion: The study demonstrated the potential of
Occupational Therapy in oncological care within Primary Health Care with actions of: individual, collective,
home-based, family-oriented, territorial, in addition to possibilities within the health care network,
multidisciplinary action, and continuing education.
