Resumo:
Violence, which encompasses multiple concepts, can manifest itself in various forms in society,
including gender-based violence. This mechanism of social relationships is projected into
various aspects of life, including private relationships. Most studies on domestic violence seek
answers to the causes, ways to prevent it, and strategies to promote autonomy that aim to help
the victim escape the cycle. In other words, they focus on women. Few are dedicated to
understanding the possible processes that can influence aggressive actions by men. However,
this study does not target just any man. It is dedicated to understanding this phenomenon from
the perspective of male military police officers, understanding domestic violence as one branch
among several processes of violence that this specific group goes through and promotes. It
focuses on the formation of masculinities as the basis for such construction, with pathways that
go beyond legality, but also the health of these professionals. Thus, this work has the general
objective of identifying how the PMBA acts in the prevention and repression of domestic
violence in cases where police officers are the aggressors. And as specific objectives, to identify
if and how the power relations associated with the imaginary of the military police reinforce
domestic violence, to explain how the construction of hegemonic masculinity affects health in
such a way as to turn military police officers into aggressors and to analyze the institutional
mechanisms of prevention and repression of cases of violence, presenting actions and
movements that aim at a reconstruction in the way we relate to each other produced by the
PMBA in the form of the tripod: health, law and education. The methodology used was black
feminist epistemology in conjunction with the Theory of Social Representations, since this path
is consistent with the constructions through the sharing of various approaches. From the results
we see that the construction of masculinity affects police officers when they act violently,
predominantly in their relationships with ex-partners, as well as an increase in reports of
domestic violence in the years 2022 and 2023. Finally, the actions offered by PMBA were
presented, conducting health, education and law as a way of preventing domestic violence,
through the Taking Care of Us Program.
