Resumo:
The agrofuel industry has been developing in recent decades from a combination of various factors. These have led to increased demand for agricultural products, therefore generating significant impact on the global food supply system and, especially, food security and sovereignty. The discussion on agrofuels, food security and sovereignty emerges in the national and international sphere within this environment.
These actors are identified in this article, presenting the principal favourable and unfavourable arguments to introducing the agrofuel industry. The Brazilian case is analysed, based on this discussion.
