Resumo:
In this article, we analyze the environmental insurance degree of integration in order to diagnose the corporate environmental management pattern in the Camaçari Industrial Complex, located in the state of Bahia. The environmental insurance sector performance in
the national and international market is analyzed for the purpose of companies perception verification on the risks of the production
procedure and on the dynamics of environmental management. The externalities damages of environmental pollution may jeopardize
the firms economic and financial balance, when considering polluting payments principle theses, generating costs on indemnification
and stimulating the emergence of an insurance market system. The empirical-analytical method was adopted and consisted of an exploratory research on insurance environmental operations of the Complex companies. It was observed that the main barriers to the
diffusion of environmental insurance are low effectiveness of the applications of laws and the high degree of confidence in existing
environmental management systems. This situation has discouraged demand for environmental insurance operations in corporate environmental management.
