Resumo:
Through walks along the Estrada Real of Bahia, a stretch connecting the municipalities of Livramento and Rio de Contas (BA), I collect “traces,” material remnants used in the development of a poetic inquiry within the field of visual arts. This research seeks to investigate the memories of the territory, approaching memory not as a static reproduction of the past but as a dynamic construction that can be reworked through individual experiences. In this poetic construction, memory acquires new interpretations, questions, forms, and images, with the aim of creating tension and raising issues concerning the Brazilian colonial period and how that historical process has impacted and continues to impact the social and environmental life of the territory. This process takes shape through the creation of sculptures, installations, and video performances, as part of a contemporary visual arts practice.
