Resumo:
This undergraduate thesis analyzes the targeted attacks on memorials and spontaneous shrines dedicated to councilwoman Marielle Franco, who was assassinated in 2018. The research examines how these acts of vandalism reflect and perpetuate the structures of oppression present in Brazilian society, specifically machismo (sexism), racism, and LGBTQIA+phobia (prejudice against people of the LGBTQIA+ community, that is, lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender individuals, etc.). Through a qualitative methodology that combines bibliographic and exploratory research, the study investigates three cases of vandalized murals, analyzing their symbolism and meanings within the Brazilian sociopolitical context.
