Resumo:
In Being and Nothingness, in his analysis of phenomenological ontology, Jean-Paul
Sartre describes the concept of bad faith, differentiating it from a simple lie to another.
Bad faith is related to the notion of ontological freedom, however, a person may not
have an understanding of his or her own condition. Based on this conception, we seek
to address racism here understood as an attitude of bad faith, since it consists of the
naturalization of prejudice and discrimination based on social perceptions sustained
by biological differences between people and peoples, although there is no scientific
basis for the concept of race. The objective of this study, of a bibliographic nature and
qualitative approach, is to investigate how this attitude implies the denial of the
humanity of the other, having as theoretical and reflective orientation existentialism
from the Sartrean perspective.
