Resumo:
The main objective of this work is to investigate the concept of irony in Friedrich
Schlegel. At first, the investigation will deal with the definition proposed by Schlegel,
with special emphasis on fragments published in the magazines Lyceum der schoenen
Kuenste (1797) and Athenaeum (1797-1798) and the writings entitled Idear (1800),
Criticism of the concept of irony by Georg W. F. Hegel und Soren Kierkegaard will be
examined at a later stage. Finally, the work will seek to ascertain to what extend the
controversial romance Lucinda (1799), assumed by Schlegel as ironic, can be considcred an example of ironic work.
