Resumo:
The present work is the result of research conducted in the Professional Postgraduate
Program in Music (PPGPROM) at the Federal University of Bahia. It comprises a Memorial,
Article, and Product. In the Memorial, I describe my musical journey, emphasizing pivotal
moments that led to the development of the research project, including musical formation
through Brazilian music, exposure to Latin American music, and experience with arrangement.
It concludes with the current moment, discussing the projects undertaken during the Master’s
program as well as some of the courses completed. The Article addresses hybridizations within
the choro genre, providing a systematization of existing studies on the subject. Through
historical data, a reflection is proposed on the traditionalist trend that opposes innovation within
the style. An analysis of the flamenco cadence is also conducted, identifying it as a musical
hybridization not previously explored. The Product consists of the composition and
arrangement of eight themes that explore hybridisms between Brazilian and other Latin
American musical genres, and the recording, in a band format, of five of these.
