Resumo:
The general objective of this work is to present the possibility of a practical study of the
particular style of drummers Nenê and Tutty Moreno, reference musicians in the recent
history of drums associated with Brazilian music. The work also aims to present the
results of field research carried out with the aim of answering this work’s key question:
how are reference Brazilian drummers being studied in undergraduate courses
specializing in drums around the country? This question is based on my experience as a
drum student, teacher, and speaker at music festivals in Brazil and abroad, noting little
presence of references from Brazilian drummers linked to undergraduate programs,
contrasting with other musical and academic environments, which present a greater
convergence of reference musicians covered by their respective programs. As processes
to support this work, interviews and research on the language that I incorporated from the
practice of the work of these two musicians stand out, resulting in the elaboration of the
Memorial, Academic Article and Product, in the format of a Solo Notebook. Solo in this
refers to pieces written only for drums, encompassing stylistic particularities of the
musicians mentioned in this work. These pieces contain elements of the accompaniment,
sounds, phrasing and improvisation styles of each of these musicians, organized in a study
format. The solo notebook also includes two original pieces, intended for drum students
and teachers as support study material. In this way, TCF aims to contribute to discussions
about new educational possibilities in music, promoting the expansion of the scarce
repertoire and teaching material intended for the practice of drumming in Brazil.
