Resumo:
The Santo Antônio Limitada sugar mill represented a period of economic, political, social and urban apogee for the municipality of Miranda/MS. Set up in 1929, its production included crystal sugar and brandy, which was consumed locally and regionally. The object received legal protection from the Mato Grosso do Sul Culture Foundation in 2007, by Decree No. 12.391. Its process of abandonment began shortly after the enterprise was shut down and has lasted for 52 years, considering the current time. Despite government transfers, what remains of the building are the marks of neglect and progressive degradation, resulting from considerable losses over time, which requires immediate action. In view of this, this study aims to propose a respectable intervention for the property, seeking to enhance its material and immaterial aspects. To this end, the entire process was based on bibliographical research in physical archives and libraries, on-site technical visits, planimetric surveys and photographs, as well as interviews with residents and former workers at the plant, and the development of a questionnaire, in order to understand the real needs and shortcomings of society, which could contribute to local development. The proposal aims to address the above aspects, inserting the asset as a protagonist in the urban fabric and as a continuity in collective daily life.
