Resumo:
The research discusses the significant potential of Carlinhos Brown's costumes and
their contextual reach, taking into account the meanings that are established in stage
costumes and the emotional consequences on the community. The theoretical
situation encompasses an interlocution between art and design, alignments with
fashion premises and principles of emotional design. Considering the way the artist
uses personalized clothing in the composition of his personal image, we question
what meanings are established in his costumes and how they reverberate in the
collective dimension. Guiding assumptions admitted that the costumes establish
meanings related to sociocultural representations and operate with indicators of
ethnic-racial belonging to affirm a syncretic Afro-centered cultural identity, activating
affective relation ships with the public. Based on Depth Hermeneutics in conjunction
with the Kansei Engineering method, the research methodology comprises a holistic
approach aimed at evaluating emotional perception. Data collection involved Focus
Group techniques and semi-structured interviews. In a broad discursive, analytical
and reflective course, we established connections between formative aspects and
symbolic connotations of clothing structures and discussed the subjective relation
ships between the artist and his costume, exploring the link between fashion,
appearance and identity. We attest that emotional designs prescribed in costume
design are consolidated in the user's experience and, in effect, promote positive
affective impacts on cultural subjects who interact indirectly with the aestheticsymbolic
load of costumes structure.
