Resumo:
This study reflects on the contribution of information mediation and reading mediation to the development of social protagonism in the context of the School Library of the José de Freitas Mascarenhas High School, in conjunction with the elective discipline “Reading on stage: Book Club”. Regarding the methodology, this is a descriptive research, with the adoption of the case study method, associated with participatory
research. The techniques adopted for data collection were direct observation, focus groups and interviews. Content analysis was used to analyze the data. The analysis of the experiences developed and observed allowed us to conclude that the implicit and explicit information mediation actions carried out in the context of the School Library revitalization project and the discipline “Book Club” considered the scope of the
dimensions of information mediation (dialogical, aesthetic, formative, ethical and political) for its development. It was also concluded that perceptions were expressed among the participants of the actions that they have repercussions for the development of social protagonism. Therefore, it is necessary that the information mediation actions occur consciously, considering the scope of these dimensions, in order to promote the appropriation of information and also to support the subjects in the development of social
protagonism.
