Resumo:
In this study, we investigate the interactions between the Workshops of Artistic
Expressions of the Museum of Modern Art of Bahia (Oficinas de Expressões Artísticas do
Museu de Arte Moderna da Bahia), better known as Oficinas do MAM, and the educational
program of the 3rd Bahia Biennial: the Museu-Escola Lina Bo Bardi. The main objective is
to identify and understand the reasons and strategies that were fundamental to shape
these connections. The theoretical basis of this research is situated in the field of art
education, aligned with the reflections of John Dewey, Jorge Larrosa and Ana Mae Barbosa
on Experience, Artistic Practice and Cultural Mediation. The study, of a qualitative nature,
adopted an analytical methodological approach, using an autobiographical perspective
and using oral, bibliographic, audiovisual and iconographic sources. The analyses
highlighted the central role of the Oficinas do MAM in the discussions raised by the 3rd
Bahia Biennial. The Oficinas collaborated with the other spaces, participating in the
creation and implementation of educational actions that reinforced the importance of the
autobiographical element that founded the event. It was evident that the cultural
mediation activities were designed in order to highlight the unique characteristics of this
informal learning environment. It was observed that the potential of the Oficinas was fully
explored, through the valorization of the experiences and knowledge acquired from them.
Thus, the 3rd Bahia Biennial devoted special attention to the intrinsic aspects of the
Oficinas do MAM, also taking an interest in the personal impacts on visitors, students,
teachers and mediators, as well as in the social repercussions.
