Resumo:
This work seeks to develop an analysis of the impacts caused by
accessibility conditions arising from the performance of the road
transportation network for passengers and cargo in the State of Bahia
(Brazil), identifying its interconnection with regional development in Bahia.
The importance of transport as an inducer of regional development and the
use of indicators to support Territorial Management are highlighted. The
territorial performance of the transport network is evaluated using network
indices, which are compared with territorial indices, with the development of
prospective scenarios. This work discusses the importance of transport as
an inducer of regional development, network-territory relations and
accessibility indicators to support logistics and transport plans, as well as
the government decision-making process based on the scenarios
presented. The role of the aforementioned technical network in spatial
organization and regional development highlights its participation in regional
inequalities, such as macrocephaly in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador
compared to the rest of the State of Bahia. At the end of the analysis of the
bahian situation, it is concluded that, based on the identification of the best
located municipalities, their economic regions, as well as their vocations and
productive potential, it is possible to guide public policy interventions in the
network (roads and railways) or in the territory to allocate productive
activities, whether technological (universities and research centers),
industrial (specialized industries following regional potential) or strategic
logical warehouses.
