Resumo:
The spill, in 2019, on the northeastern coast of Brazil, spread oil on several beaches, causing a great environmental impact. An environmentally friendly cleaning agent was formulated based on a microemulsion composed of pine oil as the oily phase, surfactant from coconut oil, isopropyl alcohol as a cosurfactant and distilled water as the aqueous phase. This study proposes the application and evaluation of a microemulsion formulation (Winsor IV) to treat sand from
beach impacted with oil. A pseudoternary phase diagram, C/T ratio = 10, was used to define the microemulsion area, and some combinations were selected for beach sand remediation. The proposed cleaning agent showed 23.48% contaminant removal efficiency and has potential in sand cleaning.
