Resumo:
An indisputable fact is that the dams have been deployed throughout Brazil as an
alternative to meet the demands: energy, water supply and human supply existing in the
basins and users (mainly, urban), and it is up to the inspection body to perform a regular
inspection to evaluate the dams. Even though at the design, design and construction stage
the controls are executed in an appropriate way, there will always be assigned
uncertainties that must be controlled by monitoring the evaluation and performance of the
structures. Mainly due to the heterogeneity and uncertainties of the parameters of the
materials (foundation and construction). This work aims to perform a comparative and
critical analysis of the models of regular visual inspection chips in Brazil, presenting the
fundamental characteristics and concepts for the advancement of regular visual
inspections in the prevention of dam accidents, considering the dam safety management
adopted in Portugal. It is hoped that the comparisons and critiques of this work can
contribute and provide subsidies for an improvement of the safety of the dam, aiming at an
advance of the regular visual inspections in Brazil and, at the same time, collaborate with
the safety management of dam related to the issues that will be addressed.
