Resumo:
The Open Science movement brings up relevant discussions about collaborative science in the
21st century. In this collaborative universe, research data has been the object of study due to the social need to obtain reliable data for scientific advancement in an open and freeway. In addition, several development agencies recognize the importance of research data, consequently, they began to demand adequate management of these data. This highlights the need to ensure means and mechanisms for preserving and reusing data through policies that regulate the opening of data from public resources. By contextualizing the literature on research data, a gap is perceived in Brazilian universities as well as in most funding agencies in the structuring of policies that direct researchers to the management of scientific data, since the Open Science movement points to an appropriated treatment of research data to enable the process of storage, organization, search, recovery, and dissemination of collected data. And this impacts on the researcher's adherence (or not) in opening and sharing their scientific production, among other reasons. Thus, this study has the general objective: to know the perception of research professors regarding data management and UFBA actions developed for the implementation of a research data management policies in the context of Open Science. This is a single integrated case study, since, in Brazil, studies regarding data management plans for scientific research are still in their embryonic stages. Knowing the
historical importance of the Federal University of Bahia, it was chosen for this study. For the
methodological route, the online questionnaire was chosen as an instrument for data collection, following the Likert Scale model. As this is a qualitative research, data analysis was carried out using the Para consistent Logic technique, with the aim of treating and balancing the degrees of agreement and disagreement between propositions, avoiding misinterpretations. And, together, the Spearman correlation coefficient was used. The research identified some gaps in the policy framework for data management in Brazilian universities, despite the growing recognition of the importance of research data in the advancement of science. In addition, he revealed that UFBA is still far from the open science practices observed worldwide. The research identified some gaps in the policy framework for data management in Brazilian universities, despite the growing recognition of the importance of research data in the advancement of science. In addition, he revealed that UFBA is still far from the open science practices observed worldwide. The researchers indicated the need for policies that support the management of research data and emphasized the lack of guidelines and institutional support in this process. Therefore, it was possible to achieve a better
understanding of the perception and practices of Brazilian researchers in relation to the
management of research data, as well as a critical look at the lack of effective policies to support Open Science in the context of Brazilian universities. In addition, it highlights the urgency of improving and implementing a research data management plan at UFBA, which may have implications for other universities and research institutions in Brazil.
