Resumo:
The Brazilian electrical matrix needs continuous and planned expansion to guarantee its energy security, the diversification of energy sources and the maintenance of its renewable predominance. Additionally, the Brazilian electricity sector (SEB) can reduce its emissions by increasing the use of renewable energy, which would help Brazil to meet its international sustainability goals. In this context, wind and solar energy are relevant options for Brazil, mainly because there are great potentials available. Based on this, this work elaborates Brazilian scenarios of electricity demand and power energy supply (wind and solar photovoltaic) for the period from 2019 to 2050 and estimates reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
