Resumo:
The Sun is one of the renewable energy sources which has expanded significantly in the generation of electricity in the world recently. In Brazil, from 2014, the Solar Energy indicated that it can act in the expansion and diversification of the Brazilian energy matrix, helping to preserve its energy security and its renewable predominance. The Northeast has great solar potential, and the State of Bahia stands out by having high levels of insolation and vast areas available for deployment of photovoltaic solar plants. In Bahia, the electricity generation in 2013 until today is still mostly derived from plants of the Hydroelectric Company of São Francisco (Chesf), but the signings of new solar projects by auctions tend to change this scenario in the coming years. On this basis, this article evaluates and designs electricity supply/demand scenarios for 2050 in Bahia and Brazil, focusing on growth potential of the photovoltaic solar power centralized generation in Bahia.
