Resumo:
The study in question aims to know the living and working conditions of men and women invested in the water trade, throughout the second half of the 19th century, in the city of Salvador, Bahia. It will then seek to understand who these people were, how they interacted with the world around them and how they contributed to the world of work and the formation of culture and local identities, based on their trajectories. In order to achieve this goal, it will start from determining vectors, which will address three strategic points, namely: Who were the water workers? What did they do? How did they relate to the government and the community? In an effort to fulfill the intentions announced here, journalistic sources and other works that have already dealt with the theme will be used, which ends up showing a qualitative character of the research, but with an exploratory-descriptive nature of the discourse, which it does not intend to refute. or to confront previous theses and arguments, if not as other provocations that can serve as inspiration for future works.
