Resumo:
Aim: To develop a clinical nutrition palliative care protocol for hospitalized patients and validate its content by experts in the clinical nutrition area and the palliative care committee. Methods: Study carried out between June and December 2021. Initially, a literature review was performed with the following descriptors: "Palliative care", "Hydration", "Quality of life", "Food", "Malnutrition", " Nutritional therapy” and “Advance care planning”, in Pubmed, Web of Science, Scielo, Google Scholar, Virtual Health Library, Medline and Lilacs databases. Based on this, a structured protocol was elaborated that was evaluated by nutritionists in the clinical nutrition area and health professionals from the palliative care committee of the general Hospital of Vitória da Conquista. The Content Validity Index was used to validate the protocol. Results: The protocol was elaborated in a logical sequence, in a judicious way, in order to provide reliable and clear information during its use. Subsequently, it went through the validation process, presenting a Content Validity Index equal to 1.0, both in terms of objectives, structure, presentation and relevance, as well as in the overall assessment. Conclusion: The clinical nutrition palliative care protocol for hospitalized patients proved to be valid in its content and has potential for applicability in clinical practice.
