Este trabalho busca discutir a história dos afoxés Congos d’África e Badauê e a construção da identidade de jovens no bairro do Engenho Velho de Brotas, localizado na cidade de Salvador-Ba. Para este fim investigamos a história dos grupos em seus respectivos períodos de existência, a história do carnaval em Salvador e as antigas agremiações organizadas por negros, letras de músicas e imagens históricas das agremiações. Utilizando como metodologia a realização de entrevistas, pesquisas em acervos e outros materiais complementares como discos e imagens e considerando as fontes orais como veículo central para a definição do problema e direcionamento da pesquisa como um todo. Consideramos os fundadores destes grupos como empreendedores culturais e multiplicadores do saber e a partir das contribuições das pesquisas em Etnomusicologia, Ciências Sociais e História foi elaborado este texto final que tem o objetivo de contribuir com as pesquisas posteriores sobre Etnomusicologia, afoxés, carnaval, comunidades populares, memória musical e micro-história.
This work discusses the history of the afoxés Congos d' África and Badauê and the identity construction of young people in the neighborhood of the Engenho Velho de Brotas, located in the city of Salvador, Bahia. To this end we investigate the history of the groups in their respective periods of existence, the history of Carnival in Salvador and the associations organized by blacks, lyrics
and pictures of historical associations. Using as a methodology to conduct interviews, research in archives and other supplementary materials such as disks and images, and considering the oral sources as a vehicle central to the problem definition and direction of research as a whole. To this end we consider the founders of these groups as cultural entrepreneurs and multipliers of knowledge and from the contributions of research in ethnomusicology, social sciences and history has prepared this final text that aims to contribute to the further research on ethnomusicology, afoxés, carnival, popular communities and music.
