<title>Non-boltzmannian distributions observed in small bodies of the solar system</title>

<description>Non-boltzmannian distributions observed in small bodies of the solar system
Borges, Ernesto Pinheiro; Betzler, Alberto Silva
Previous works have shown that some features of small bodies of the&#13;
Solar System (mass, diameters, rotation periods, and apparent magnitudes) are relatively well modeled by distributions originally derived from Tsallis statistical mechanics.&#13;
Some of the observed distributions are fitted in almost the entire range of the variables,&#13;
different from other distributions. We revisit these previous studies and update them&#13;
with recent data. Our results corroborate the previous ones, – that distributions based&#13;
on the q-exponential family are usually found in statistical description of these planetary systems –, and reinforce the conjecture that the underlying mechanism that generates these observed data may have a nonextensive nature.

<title>O trabalho científico de Sir William Herschel</title>
<link>https://repositorio.ufba.br/handle/ri/33622</link>
<description>O trabalho científico de Sir William Herschel
Betzler, Alberto Silva
Em 1781, Sir William Herschel foi o primeiro, em toda a história da Astronomia, a registrar a descoberta de um planeta. O planeta Urano, interpretado pelo próprio como um cometa, projetou-o ao patamar de uma celebridade conhecida em toda a Europa. Mais do que o descobridor de um planeta, Herschel foi um brilhante astrônomo e construtor de telescópios, tendo realizado observações sistemáticas que iniciaram novos campos de pesquisa astronômica. Tais pesquisas geraram importantes contribuições para&#13;
entendimento do Sistema Solar e da galáxia que habitamos. Possuindo uma boa base em&#13;
matemática e física percebe-se, nas pesquisas de Herschel, o uso constante do método científico e da física newtoniana.

<title>A bright fireball over the state of Rio Grande do Sul</title>

On June, 7th, 2019, around 01h33m (UT), inhabitantsfrom Brazil (mainly in the Southern Region states), Argentina,&#13;
Paraguay and Uruguay observed a very bright fireball which was also recorded by two meteor monitoring stations&#13;
of BRAMON. The fireball entered in the atmosphere with a velocity of 14.3 km/s at an altitude of 104 km over the&#13;
south of Paraguay, travelling 393 km until reaching its dark flight at an altitude of 27.4 km over the state of Rio&#13;
Grande do Sul. The calculated energy corresponds to an entry mass between 3.25 × 103 kg and 5.75 × 103 kg (this&#13;
corresponds to a meteoroid with a diameter of 1.2 m to 1.4 m). It is believed that about 10% of the original mass&#13;
reached the ground. The shallow trajectory created a large meteorite strewn field that could extend from the cities&#13;
of Jari to Santa Maria (Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil). Teams conducted a meteorite search in the area, with no success&#13;
so far.
