Introduction: Amyloidosis refers to a set of diseases in which protein&#13;
fragments, folded in a highly stable configuration, are pathogenically deposited&#13;
in the extracellular space of organs and tissues as insoluble fibrils. The reason&#13;
these fibrils accumulate is not yet clearly elucidated. Once amyloid is formed,&#13;
susceptible patients have a reduced ability to mobilize and degrade it. With&#13;
accumulation of proteins, a distortion in the size and shape of the organs&#13;
occurs, resulting in malfunction. The larynx and tongue are the most common&#13;
sites of deposition in the upper airways, which results in dysphonia, salivation&#13;
and changes in airway protection. When the oral cavity is affected, an easily&#13;
identified aspect is macroglossia. Objectives: This study seeks to identify the&#13;
speech therapy demand in patients with amyloid deposit disease and what&#13;
interventions speech therapy can propose together with the other professionals&#13;
of the multidisciplinary team. Methodology: This is an integrative review with a&#13;
search for publications in PubMed, Lilacs, SciELO, SciVerse Scopus databases&#13;
and in the repositories of state and federal public education institutions, with no&#13;
period restriction. Results: Of the 224 articles found, only 18 were selected for&#13;
the final sample. Among the main findings, it is noted that most of the studies&#13;
described subjects with clinical manifestations of amyloidosis presenting&#13;
difficulty in swallowing, followed by voice alterations and, finally, speech&#13;
alterations. It was also observed the presence of penetration and aspiration,&#13;
use of tracheostomy by the patients and an improvement in the swallowing&#13;
function, after speech therapy. Conclusion: We can find speech therapy&#13;
demands in patients with amyloid deposit disease, and these issues promote&#13;
impacts on the functions involving the stomatognathic system, especially in&#13;
swallowing, voice and speech, areas of intervention that speech therapy&#13;
potentially acts.

<description>Dispositivos e incentivadores respiratórios utilizados na terapia vocal: revisão de literatura
Santana, Raíssa Almeida de
Souza, Ingrid Sampaio
Purpose: To describe the main controlled devices used in voice therapy and their effects. Methods: A narrative review of the literature was carried out using the Scielo, PubMed, LILACS, and Medline databases. The search considered articles published between 2012 and 2022, in English or Portuguese, primary studies, and with available access. Results: For this study, 15 articles were selected in total, eight national and seven international publications. Six controlled devices and incentives were found, used as therapeutic resources associated with vocal speech therapy. Conclusion: The main devices used in voice therapy are: Shaker®, Threshold®, EMST150™, and POWERbreathe. The effects produced differed according to the type of device, target audience, and execution time of the intervention with the device. Among the main vocal effects is an increase in maximum phonatory time and modification of acoustic parameters.

Purpose: To describe the autoperception of people diagnosed with Parkinson's disease regarding speech, swallow and saliva. Method: Cross sectional, observational and descriptive study, made with a sample by convenience of 20 people with Parkinson's disease at low to mild stage. The patients answered to the Radboud Oral Motor Protocol Inventory for Parkinson's disease - ROMP. This is divided in speech, swallow and saliva. The patient marks the increasing frequency of the symptons by 1 to 5. Results: the total value of each person has ranged from 26 to 71 points, with an average of 41,75 ±12,78. Only 2 participants has exceeded half of the possible score. the value referring to mastery of speech had average of 16,25 ±5,46; in matter of mastery of swallow, the average was 10,8 ±3,92; and mastery of saliva had average of 14,7 ±6,12. Conclusion: The participants showed a low autoperception towards speech, swallow and saliva. The questions regarding the mastery of speech are the most perceived, followed by the mastery of saliva in second and swallow in last place. Each alteration observed has an implication and an individual reflex on these people's lives, being the subjective prejudice of these disturbs consistent or not with the clinical severity of the problem.
