In the contemporary world, online media has been one of the most widely used communicational devices in western societies to report journalistic articles on body, gender and sexuality issues. Due to their interdisciplinary nature, these thematic issues relate to other fields of knowledge, such as studies. discursive studies, cultural studies and queer studies. Thus, this research, of qualitative documentary nature, aims to analyze aspects of the functioning of Brazilian online media discourse about the “exit or not of LGBT subjects from the closet”, materialized in journalistic texts. Therefore, we trace our theoretical-methodological path to from the theoretical assumptions of Pechetian Discourse Analysis linked to methodological procedures derived from qualitative documentary research. Our analytical corpus is constituted by discursive sequences cut from the inside of the journalistic texts selected in the selection and data collection phases. The journalistic texts were collected and selected from contemporary Brazilian online media that deal with the theme of “leaving or not coming out of the closet”. In order to reach the proposed objective, we firstly reviewed the literature on the theoretical-analytical assumptions of Discourse Analysis, based on the theoretical contributions of Michel Pêcheux and the Brazilian theorist, Eni Orlandi, among others. Following this, we made readings and made some discussions about issues related to sexualities and genders, under the aegis of the epistemological contributions of Queer Theory. Finally, we examine the aspects of the Brazilian online media discourse functioning about the “exit or not from the closet” as a discursive event. To this end, we initially observed whether the theme of “coming out of the closet” in media discourse is an ideological formation. Then, we analyze in which discursive, heteronormative or nonheteronormative formation, the discursive sequences, which constitute our analytical corpus, are inscribed so that non-normative sexualities are “made visible” in the media discourse through the performative gesture of “exit” or not from the closet ”. The results show us that there is, in the discursive functioning of the media, the resumption or reproduction of words and meanings that, historically, have stigmatized and marginalized people from non-normative sexualities, as being "abnormal", "illegitimate", "deviant", “Subversive” and “abject”. In addition, we also find the existence of “inverse”, “subversive” discourses, resistance discourses, therefore, the existence of queer discourses in the archive of contemporary Brazilian online media. We also note that while there is a higher incidence of people "out of the closet", there is a significant proportion who still "prefer" to be in the "closet". This occurs as a way to avoid being victimized by some kind of homophobic or LGBT phobic violence. In this discussion, we realize that there is, in the discursive functioning of electronic media, a significant incidence of LGBT people who “give in” to the injunction of compulsory heterosexuality.
