A poética popular nordestina no período da 1ª República (1889-1918): os cordéis de Leandro Gomes de Barros

Abstract

Compreender a realidade social e política do passado sempre é um desafio, ainda mais, quando você é docente da Educação Básica, e precisa contextualizar problemas contemporâneos através de fatos e acontecimentos do passado, que, inicialmente não teriam relação com a atualidade. Neste cenário, o cordel, potencialmente surge como um recurso didático que estreita estas duas esferas do social em uma única narrativa. Alicerçado neste mundo dos vocábulos, especialmente da letra cantada, oralizada, do cordel, que iniciei meus estudos de Mestrado, particularmente preocupado em entender a forma que estas narrativas escritas pelo grande Leandro Gomes de Barros (1865-1918, PB) interpretaram e retrataram as modificações sociais, culturais e políticas, advindas com a nascente República do nosso país. O que me levou ao seguinte problema norteador de pesquisa: Como a literatura de cordel ajuda a pensar os procedimentos modernos da Primeira República? Tendo, assim, por escopos: identificar as mudanças do sistema político, no período finissecular XIX, para entender as repercussões nos cordéis; analisar as representações presentes no cordel através do entrelaçamento do processo biográfico do literato popular, cordelista, com o contexto sociopolítico de produção da obra; analisar como o processo elaborativo do cordel imprime uma perspectiva popular de vivência do projeto de modernidade do nosso país. A partir disso foi constituído o corpus da pesquisa o qual foi montado através de cinquenta e seis cordéis digitalizados e posteriormente inseridos no software Atlas Ti., estas obras estão presentes no acervo da Fundação Casa de Rui Barbosa. Este corpus foi analisado com as técnicas fornecidas pela Análise de Conteúdo (AC) usando também a ferramenta das nuvens de palavras, resultante da incorporação e codificação do material no Atlas Ti. Esta pesquisa chegou à conclusão de que os cordéis produzidos pelo Leandro Gomes de Barros, retratam a voz do povo, e os anseios populares: acerca da carestia de vida, pagamento de impostos, aumento dos preços dos alimentos (elementos econômicos), da formação do exército nacional, do Brasil na I Guerra Mundial, aumento das leis e das prisões (fatores da soberania nacional e políticos) e, por fim, mas não menos importante, a presença do calçamento, dos profissionais liberais, dos jornais e do hábito de ler e da leitura (elementos de ordem das sociabilidades e de mutações da cidade). Este patrimônio cultural imaterial do nosso país, o cordel, conecta arte e realidade que transcende a ordem do tempo, do autor e das realidades.

Understanding the social and political reality of past is always a challenge, still more, when you are a teacher of the High School Education, and precise to deal with contemporary problems through facts and events of the past which initially they would not have relation with the presente moment. In this scenery, the Cordel’s works potentially appear like an educational resource that narrows these two spheres of the social one in the only narrative. Based in this world of the words, specially of the sung letter, orally, of the Cordel’s work, that I began my studies of Master's degree, particularly preoccupied in understanding the form that these narratives, written by great Leandro Gomes de Barros (1865-1918, PB), interpreted and showed the social, cultural and political modifications resulted from the nascent Republic of our country. All of them lead me to the next problem aimed research: How the Cordel’s literature helps people to think the modern proceedings of the First Republic? Having as the principal following aims: identifying the changes of the political system of the 19th century period in order to understand their repercussions on the Cordel’s works; Analysing the present representations in the Cordel’s work through the interlacement of the biographical process of the popular man of letters, cordelista, with the context social policy of production of their work; analysing as the constructive process of the Cordel’s work prints a popular perspective of experiencing of the project of modernity of our country. Thus From those objectives the corpus of those researches were appointed which all of them were mounted through fifty six printed Cordels and later off they were subsequently inserted in the software Atlas Ti., Those works can be found in the heap of the Foundation House of Rui Barbosa. This corpus was analysed with the techniques supplied by the Analysis of Content (AC) using also the tool of the clouds of words, resultant force of the incorporation and codification of the material in the Atlas Ti. This inquiry came to the conclusion of which those Cordel’s works, which were produced by Leandro Gomes de Barros, show the voice of the people, and the popular longings: around the high cost of life, payment of taxes, increase of the prices of the foods (economical elements), of the formation of the national army of Brazil at World war I, increase of the laws and of the prisons (factors of the national sovereignity and political) and, finally, but not the least importante one, the presence of the paving, of the liberal professionals, of the newspapers, and the habit of reading and of the Reading itself (elements of order of the sociabilidades and of changes of the city). This immaterial cultural inheritance of our country, the Cordel’s work, connects art and reality that transcends the order of the time, of the author and of the reality.
