O caminho traçado pela modernização do ensino da matemática no Instituto de Educação Euclides Dantas: Escola Normal de Vitória da Conquista - BA na década de 1960 e anos iniciais de 1970

Abstract

O presente trabalho tem como objetivo analisar historicamente como se constituiu o processo de modernização do ensino da Matemática no Instituto de Educação Euclides Dantas – Escola Normal, em Vitória da Conquista, na década de 1960 e anos iniciais de 1970. O processo de Modernização do Ensino, nesse marco cronológico, configurou-se como inovador no Brasil e no mundo, frente à nova realidade da época, o que justifica a construção dessa narrativa no contexto da História da Educação Matemática na Bahia, por não se ter observado nenhum trabalho que trate especificamente da referida instituição. Na consolidação deste trabalho investigativo, buscaram-se os seguintes objetivos específicos: 1 Verificar como se deu esse novo processo de ensino da Matemática; 2 Investigar como a modernização do ensino da Matemática e o processo formativo docente chegaram ao interior do Estado da Bahia; 3 Verificar, pela análise das fontes documentais, o modo como se deu a inserção da modernização do ensino da Matemática no Instituto de Educação Euclides Dantas – Escola Normal situado no município de Vitória da Conquista; e 4 Refletir sobre a inserção do ensino da Matemática na proposta de modernização no lócus da pesquisa. O interesse dos idealizadores do movimento era adaptar a escola ao novo modelo de sociedade instaurado no mundo pós-guerra. Na procura por vestígios que configurassem a influência da Modernização do Ensino da Matemática em Vitória da Conquista, buscou-se como lócus dessa investigação o Instituto de Educação Euclides Dantas - Escola Normal. As Escolas Normais, criadas com o propósito de formação técnica de professores, foram fundadas no Brasil na segunda metade do século XIX, na Bahia no ano de 1836, e em Vitória da Conquista em 1952, trazendo para a cidade uma nova perspectiva de desenvolvimento educacional, tendo grande impacto por seu caráter transformador. Na análise das fontes investigadas, foi possível identificar que houve a inserção da Modernização do Ensino da Matemática no Instituto pesquisado. Após examinar os documentos, foi possível identificar uma relação próxima com as ideias modernizadoras em decorrência do investimento na modernização do ensino da Matemática por meio de indicação de novos conteúdos a serem ensinados na instituição. A inserção do novo modelo de ensino da Matemática na cidade é condizente com a necessidade de qualificação de mão de obra, em face do processo de desenvolvimento urbano. Embora esse processo pareça ter sido fragilizado, uma vez que foi dada maior atenção ao Ensino Secundário.

The present work aims to analyze historically how the process of modernization of the teaching of Mathematics was constituted in the Euclides Dantas Institute of Education - Normal School, in Vitória da Conquista, in the 1960s and early 1970s. The process of Modernization of Education, in this chronological framework, was configured as an innovator in Brazil and in the world, facing the new reality of the time, which justifies the construction of this narrative in the context of the History of Mathematical Education in Bahia, for not having observed any work that deals specifically of that institution. In the consolidation of this investigative work, the following specific objectives were sought: 1 Verify how this new process of mathematics teaching occurred; 2 To investigate how the modernization of Mathematics teaching and the educational process came to the interior of the State of Bahia; 3 Check, through the analysis of the documentary sources, the way in which the modernization of the teaching of Mathematics was inserted in the Euclides Dantas Institute of Education - Normal School located in the city of Vitória da Conquista; and 4 Reflect on the insertion of the teaching of Mathematics in the proposal of modernization in the locus of the research. The interest of the idealizers of the movement was to adapt the school to the new model of society established in the post-war world. In the search for vestiges that configured the influence of the Modernization of the Teaching of Mathematics in Vitória da Conquista, the Institute of Education Euclides Dantas - Normal School was sought as a locus of this investigation. The Normal Schools, created for the purpose of technical teacher training, were founded in Brazil in the second half of the 19th century, in Bahia in 1836, and in Vitória da Conquista in 1952, bringing to the city a new perspective of educational development, having great impact by its transforming character. In the analysis of the sources investigated, it was possible to identify that the Modernization of Mathematics Teaching was inserted in the researched Institute. After examining the documents, it was possible to identify a close relationship with the modernizing ideas because of the investment in the modernization of Mathematics teaching by means of indicating new contents to be taught in the institution. The insertion of the new teaching model of mathematics in the city is consistent with the need for qualification of labor, in the face of the process of urban development. Although this process seems to have been weakened, as more attention was given to Secondary Education.
