O Club Sportivo Feminino e as formas de sociabilidade para as mulheres da elite em Aracaju (1919 - 1926)

Abstract

Esta tese tem como objeto de estudo histórico o Club Sportivo Feminino, instituição que teve o período de existência entre os anos de 1919 a 1926, criada para possibilitar, as mulheres letradas em Aracaju, um espaço legítimo e autêntico para a convivência social no âmbito do divertimento dos clubes de elite da cidade. O objetivo foi analisar como a educação constituiu-se em um elemento de circulação, sociabilidade e condição de acesso das mulheres aos clubes dançantes, aos clubes esportivos e aos eventos e festivais esportivos em Aracaju, em um delimitado período do início do século XX. À luz do referencial metodológico da Nova História, o estudo está embasado nas prerrogativas dos historiadores da Escola dos Analles, conforme visto em Burke (1997, 1992), Le Goff (1984). A partir do referencial teórico metodológico secionado vimos que é possível instrumentalizar-nos com os achados, conceitos e categorias que suportam informações capazes de reconstituir os processos efetivamente vividos. Para o aporte teórico nos apropriamos de conceitos e categorias de autores como Norbert Elias, Roger Chartier, Pierre Boudieu, Jean François Sirineli, Peter Burker, dentre outros que dialogaram com nosso objeto ao longo da Tese. Para a fundamentação teórica essencial, nos valemos da categoria de Representação de Roger Chartier (1990), do conceito de Elites Culturais de Sirinelli (1998) e de intelligentsia de Burker (2003). Como fonte foram utilizados os jornais Correio de Aracaju, Jornal do Século XX, Sergipe Jornal e Diário da Manhã, arquivados no Instituto Histórico e Geográfico de Sergipe, no Arquivo Público do Estado de Sergipe, na Biblioteca Epiphânio Dórea, e no Instituto Tobias Barreto de Educação e Cultura. Com a investigação proposta pudemos inferir que o Club Sportivo Feminino inaugurou novas formas de sociabilidade para as mulheres no âmbito público, que articulavam as representações da educação feminina com novos elementos característicos da vida moderna, como o esporte e a dança.

ABSTRACT This thesis presents as an object of historical research the Club Sportivo Feminino, an institution that had a period of existence between 1919 and 1926, created to enable women scholars in Aracaju to be a legitimate and authentic space for social coexistence within the fremework of entertainment of the city's elite clubs. The purpose is to analyze how education constituted an element of circulation, sociability and access condition of women to dance clubs, sports clubs and sports events and festivals in Aracaju-SE, in a determined period in the beginning of the 20th century. We use the methodological reference of the new history, based on the prerogatives of the Annales historians, as seen in Burke (1997, 1992), Carr (1996); Le Goff (1984). From this methodology we have seen that it is possible to instrumentalize ourselves with the findings, concepts and categories that support information capable of reconstituting the processes actually lived. As theoretical framework, we have appropriated the concepts and categories of authors such as Norbert Elias, Roger Chartier, Pierre Boudieu, Jean François Sirineli, Peter Burker, among others who spoke to our object throughout the thesis. For the essential theoretical foundation, we made use of the category of Representation of Roger Chartier (1990), the concept of cultural elites by Sirinelli (1997) and Burens' intelligentsia (2003). As a source, the newspapers “Correio de Aracaju, Sergipe Jornal, Jornal do Século XX and Diário da Manhã were archived at the Historical and Geographic Institute of Sergipe, the Public Archive of the State of Sergipe, the Epifânio Dorea Library, and the Tobias Barreto Institute of Education and Culture. Within the proposed research, we could infer that the Club Sportivo Feminino inaugurated new forms of sociability for women in the public sphere, which articulated representations of women's education with new elements of modern life, such as sport and dance.
