Os nipo-baianos de ituberá: trajetórias, memórias e identidades de imigrantes no baixo sul da bahia (1953-1980)

Abstract

Esta tese investiga as reconfigurações identitárias de imigrantes japoneses introduzidos no Núcleo Colonial de Ituberá, localizado no Baixo-Sul da Bahia, nos idos de 1954. Trilhando as memórias, a oralidade e uma série de registros fotográficos desses imigrantes, buscamos evidenciar os seus processos de deslocamento, assentamento na nova terra e seus trânsitos identitários, assim como, clarificar em que medida e em quais contextos as relações entre a cultura nipônica pré-migratória, em partes já ocidentalizada, e a cultura local dominante, determinaram a manutenção dos sentimentos de identificação e pertencimento, operaram na reconfiguração de suas identidades e na consequente hibridização de suas práticas. A análise apreende esses imigrantes como sujeitos ligados a dois mundos, asseverando que, orientados pelas condições de seu assentamento e diante da ausência de um quantitativo expressivo de outros nipônicos na Colônia, eles fizeram um percurso ímpar na reconfiguração de suas identidades, haja vista o acionamento de seus códigos de cultura ter direcionado uma afirmação étnica mais evidente nos espaços domésticos, favorecendo, nas esferas relacionais com o outro, as acomodações, hibridizações e hifenização como nipo-baianos, todas forjadas nas malhas da cultura e vislumbradas, sobretudo, nos referenciais simbólicos do trabalho, da morada, do lazer, da comensalidade e da morte.

This thesis investigates the identity reconfiguration of the Japanese immigrants introduced in the Colonial Nucleus in Ituberá, located in Bahia region called Low South, in 1954. Through the memories, orality and a series of photographs of these immigrants, it shows their displacement processes, seating in the new land and its identity influences , as well as it clarifies how and in what contexts the relationship between the pre-migratory Japanese culture, in already westernized parts , and the dominant local culture, determined to maintain the feelings of identification and belonging, operated in the reconfiguration of their identities and the subsequent hybridization of their practices. The analysis captures these immigrants as subjects connected to two worlds, asserting that, guided by the terms of their settlement and in the absence of a significant quantity of other Japanese immigrants in Colony, they made an odd route in the reconfiguration of their identities, considering that actuation of their culture codes directed strong ethnic statement in domestic spaces, favoring the relational spheres with each other, the accommodations, hybridizations and hyphenation as nipo-baianos, all forged in the culture meshes and glimpsed mostly in the symbolic references the work, the home , the leisure, the edibility and the death.
