Abstract: Wind is one of the renewable energy sources that has expanded its use for electricity generation in the world in recent years, especially in Brazil. Wind Energy has been working to expand and diversify the Brazilian Electricity Matrix, helping to preserve its energy security and renewable predominance. The Northeast Region has excellent potential in terms of wind energy, and the State of Bahia stands out for having wind potential between 70.0 GW at 100.0 m in height and 195.0 GW at 150.0 m in height. , at winds of 7.0 m/s. Electricity generation in Bahia from 2013 to the present still comes mostly from the plants of Companhia Hidrelétrica do São Francisco (CHESF), but this scenario is already changing due to the insertion of wind energy. With this in mind, this article evaluates and projects electricity supply/demand scenarios for 2050 in Bahia and Brazil, focusing on the growth potential of concentrated wind power generation in Bahia.

Abstract: Four years after the Paris Agreement on climate change, the Brazilian Government are still struggling with the first draft of the National Strategy for the Implementation and Financing of Brazil's Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC). Based on simulations demonstrating Brazil's ability to generate 100% of its electricity from renewable sources, the present study aims to analyze the status of Brazil’s NDCs and establish a link with ongoing process reform of the electric legal framework. In the results, this study shows that the Brazilian electricity sector is not contributing to the achievement of the Paris targets, rather it has become more carbon intensive and an increase in greenhouse gas emissions is predicted for the next few decades. In favor a new paradigm for the sector is presented here, based on eco-efficiency, resilience, effective equality and sustainable socio-environmental development, with special attention to the Paris targets and Agenda 2030.

Abstract: The Brazilian electrical matrix needs continuous and planned expansion to guarantee its energy security, the diversification of energy sources and the maintenance of its renewable predominance. Additionally, the Brazilian electricity sector (SEB) can reduce its emissions by increasing the use of renewable energy, which would help Brazil to meet its international sustainability goals. In this context, wind and solar energy are relevant options for Brazil, mainly because there are great potentials available. Based on this, this work elaborates Brazilian scenarios of electricity demand and power energy supply (wind and solar photovoltaic) for the period from 2019 to 2050 and estimates reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

<title>Geração distribuída no Brasil: análise de sua evolução e aspectos regulatórios</title>
      <link>https://repositorio.ufba.br/handle/ri/35634</link>
<description>Título: Geração distribuída no Brasil: análise de sua evolução e aspectos regulatórios

Abstract: The electricity sector is undergoing an energy transition resulting from innovations, such as new renewable energies and distributed generation (DG). The current electricity generation paradigm to meet demand is still centralized generation, but a new decentralized model is emerging and signaling the advancement of DG. In this context, the objective of this article is to present the evolution of DG in Brazil, its respective regulation and to carry out a critical analysis as a contribution to the relevant regulation. The method used was to carry out an exploratory, descriptive and bibliographic study, basing the analysis of information on the growth and prospects of the DG market. The results obtained were findings of the growth of DG in the country from 2012 to the present, the predominance of photovoltaic solar technology and the existence of considerable potential for future growth. It was concluded that, despite the evolution of regulation in relation to the issue of DG in Brazil, there is a need for more regulatory improvements to more adequately drive this market.
