The problem is the algorithmic mediation practices of filtering information and its relationship with this effect. It uses the literature review method on the proposed theme and direct observation with digital platforms that make use of filtering. It is concluded that the filtering of information and the “filter bubble” build up a controlled information environment through unknown purposes, generating influences on the informational, social, cultural and political contexts of society. We adopted a descriptive approach involving both quantitative and qualitative elements. The target population consisted of librarians active until March 2019 on the professional register of the Conselho Regional de Biblioteconomia da quinta região (CRB5, the regional library association of the Brazilian Northeastern states of Bahia and Sergipe), a population which then amounted to 595 librarians. However, only the 116 librarians who responded to the survey could be included in the final sample. The results were favorable regarding information evaluation in librarians’ work, but we did remark some concerning weaknesses, as some respondents had trouble distinguishing information frommisinformation. The Leiden Science and Technology Study Center Rankings, as well as other rankings, reflect and value the intellectual production and the evaluation of the quality of higher education institutions. The university, as a producer of knowledge and a participant in the construction of a society, is an institution that strengthens the work of researchers and, consequently, the dissemination of their productions. It is a descriptive work with quantitative observation and bibliographic analysis. The study showed that Brazilian universities have constantly evolved in terms of scientific production, but the universities in American countries remain at the top of the rankings. The challenges are still many, but it is necessary that access to higher education in Brazil is expanded, and, as a consequence, it is believed that there will be an increase in scientific production, new discoveries, advances and appreciation of science. A comunidade científica, em resposta, construiu o paradigma do acesso aberto. Investigar possíveis correlações entre QUALIS CAPES, adesão a critérios de Acesso Aberto e desempenho de citação em periódicos brasileiros de Ciência da Informação. Estudo exploratório, documental e comparativo a partir de levantamento de todos os periódicos de CI estratificados do A1 ao B2 no QUALIS CAPES em Comunicação & Informação, sua adesão a políticas de acesso aberto e seu desempenho de citação coletado através do softwareHarzing’s Publish or Perish versão 6.49.6406.7079. Foram encontradas apenas cinco revistas (21,7%) que aderiam aos critérios de abertura estabelecidos, sendo esta adesão mais frequente no estrato B1 do QUALIS CAPES. Foram encontrados 09 periódicos (39%) que retinham os direitos autorais e/ou não possuíam política clara de atribuição de direitos autorais. Este comportamento foi mais frequente no estrato B1. Porém, não foi encontrada regularidade de citação expressiva associada a estratificação QUALIS ou a Acesso Aberto.Ficou evidenciado nesta amostra que pertencimento ao QUALIS A1 e A2 não corresponde necessariamente a alinhamento total ao Acesso Aberto ou a desempenho de citação expressivo entre as revistas de CI. Foi encontrado um maior alinhamento ao Acesso Aberto no estrato intermediário B1. Este estrato também foi o que mais apresentou ausência de política clara e/ou retenção de direitos autorais. Recomendaram-se estudos adicionais para investigar quais outros aspectos editoriais possam estar relacionados a desempenho de citação.
