Abstract: This research discusses archival policies and archival governance, associated with document management programs and their implications within the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). These themes have been the subject of study and interest of researchers in the field of Archival Science, who dedicate themselves to analyzing them from the creation processes to permanent preservation, including the appropriate destination of documents, whether in conventional or digital format. We also sought to reflect on the preservation of a collective, institutional and/or individual memory, guaranteeing its enjoyment by future generations. Thus, this study aims to analyze archival policies and archival governance at the Federal University of Bahia. To this end, we surveyed institutional and national documents related to the topic, in addition to investigating current records of management practices adopted by UFBA units. The methodological approach adopted combines quantitative and qualitative techniques, with a descriptive focus, using applied and documentary research procedures. A bibliographical survey was also conducted to identify and select relevant archival literature. Data collection involved administering a semi-structured questionnaire to the directors of the academic units, as well as to senior managers, specifically those at the Reitoria, the Pró-Reitoria de Administração (Proad) and the Pró-Reitoria de Gestão de Pessoas (Prodep). Data analysis was conducted using document analysis and descriptive statistics. As a result, the urgent need to create and implement an institutional archives policy was identified, along with archival governance, document management tools, trained professionals, and an integrated archives system. Such measures are essential to strengthening UFBA’s organizational culture and ensuring the preservation of its documentary heritage.

Abstract: This study examines academic literacy in medical education. It is based on the analysis of the National Curriculum Guidelines (DCNs) and the Pedagogical Course Project (PPC), focusing on the Medical Program at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). There is a gap in literature, considering that the existing researches do not investigate how this orientation is materialized in the PPC, limiting the understanding of  how institutionally proposed conceptions of literacy are incorporated into the documents that guide the formative process. In this context, this qualitative and documentary research analyzes the conceptions of academic literacy present in the PPC and in 64 teaching–learning plans from UFBA School of Medicine (FMB/UFBA), based upon the New Literacy Studies. The corpus included the DCNs, the PPC (2022), and teaching plans from the 2024.2 and 2025.1 academic periods. The analysis showed that a literacy-based approach is adopted in both the DCNs and the PPC. The ideological conception of literacy is implicitly present in these documents, although elements of the autonomous conception are still preserved. The comparison between the PPC and the teaching plans revealed little internal coherence among syllabus, objectives, methodology, and assessment. The syllabi predominantly reflected the autonomous conception, while the objectives were divided between the autonomous conception and the autonomous conception with ideological traits, with the ideological conception appearing less frequently. Regarding methodologies, the ideological conception, the autonomous conception with ideological traits, and the ideological conception with autonomous traits were the most common, along with a significant absence of methodological information. Overall, the findings indicate partial alignment with the PPC and reveal inconsistencies between institutional orientations and curricular documentation, highlighting the need for greater coherence to strengthen a critical literacy perspective in medical training.

Abstract: Introduction: Access to higher education in Brazil has historically been marked by exclusion and structural inequalities, particularly with regard to the social markers of gender, race, and class. Despite inclusion policies such as racial and social quotas, the effective integration of these markers into academic and curricular practices still presents significant challenges. An analysis of course syllabi can reveal how these issues are being addressed in undergraduate programs, contributing to the construction of a more inclusive and equitable academic environment. General objective: To analyze how the social markers of gender, race, and class are integrated into the syllabi of mandatory courses in undergraduate programs at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). Method: This is a documentary study with a qualitative approach, based on the analysis of mandatory course syllabi from 81 undergraduate programs across UFBA’s five areas of knowledge. Data were collected through the Academic Administration System (SIAC) and analyzed using the IRAMUTEQ software, employing techniques such as Similarity Analysis and Descending Hierarchical Classification. Syllabi that mention, directly or indirectly, the social markers of gender, race, and class were included, with the aim of identifying exemplary practices and gaps in the intersectional approach to these themes, thereby supporting the development of more inclusive institutional policies. Results: The research findings are organized into four articles, which reveal the low presence of the social markers of gender, race, and class in the mandatory syllabi of the 81 undergraduate programs analyzed. Final considerations: The identified gaps indicate the urgent need for curricular reforms that more systematically and effectively integrate the social markers of gender, race, and class, as well as promote interdisciplinarity in higher education. The inclusion of these perspectives is essential for the training of critical, socially responsible professionals capable of acting equitably, in line with contemporary societal demands. It is expected that the results of this study will help raise awareness among administrators and faculty, fostering the revision of pedagogical practices and the development of more inclusive educational policies at the institutional level.
