Abstract: Sentiment analysis makes inference about polarities in words that can represent possible emotions. The assertiveness of this classification is important for the results reliability. For this reason, this article investigates, validates and builds the lexicon dictionary, in the context of Software Engineering, using words, emoticons and idiomatic expressions from the SentiStrength-SE tool. An
experiment online with 559 questions answered from 48 participants in the Computing area was performed to validate lexical terms agreement from the dictionary. At the end of the data collection, the terms were gathered for validation using a Stack Overflow database to find the results on accuracy, precision, recall and F 1 -score of the new dictionary. The new lexical dictionary has 79%
Accuracy and Precision, with 78% Recall and f1-score with a smaller polarity interval than the original dictionary.

Título: Understanding practices and challenges of developing sustainable research software: a pilot interview.

Abstract: Research software is the software developed in universities and research laboratories as part of or to support their research. Research software sustainability, that is, the software’s ability to last and continue to be supported over time, fosters long-term reproducibility. In this context, it is essential to understand and describe the current practice in universities and research laboratories concerning the development of sustainable research software. However, such information is seldom available, even for research projects funded by national agencies. In this paper, we present the results of a pilot interview study conducted with a research group in Applied Physics, whose members historically developed most of the supporting research software. We interviewed the leading investigator to collect information about his knowledge of open science, research software, and software engineering practices, the challenges and supporting factors to develop software, and possible efforts to make it sustainable. The pilot study allowed us to refine the study design to support a more comprehensive study with other groups at the same University.

Abstract: The behavior of reopened issues is a perception to be studied toanalyze the impact of discussions on the continuity of software project main-tenance. Sentiment analysis is presented as a powerful technique to assist suchanalysis. In this study, we analyzed 12,996 reopened issues, which containeddiscussions, from 80 Github projects. Based on the analysis of such histori-cal data, we seek to analyze whether a closed issue tends to be reopened fromthe sentiment analysis of this issue’s discussions. The analyzes are performed through the degree of sentiment of the texts of the comments of the issues. The SentiStrength tool, supported by Software Engineering lexicons, were used to classify the degree of polarity of the texts found. The study identified that thepolarity of feelings in discussions can directly affect the issue’s life cycle, including support for the prediction about reopening issues.

Abstract: Avatar is a creature that represents a specific person in a virtual environment. By enabling interaction in applications, avatars have become very popular in games and are also becoming a reality in other domains. Built from user context information, they provide immersion and a sense of presence in applications. Literature indicates that people's behavior can be influenced by the characteristics of their avatars. A gap in the literature suggests the need for a formalism to assist developers in adapting avatars to the user's context. In this article, we propose a context model for avatar adaptation. To achieve this, we conducted a case study in a crowdsourcing system. One of the challenges of crowdsourcing systems lies in motivating users to contribute and keeping them active and motivated. The individualization and personalization of avatars with contextual information can promote interaction between the user and applications. An experiment was conducted to verify this hypothesis and facilitate discussions for model improvement.
