<description>Título: Dona Josefa Ferreira Pataxó: memórias da luta e resistência dos povos indígenas do Nordeste: caderno de atividades
Autor(es): Fernandes, Felipe Bruno Martins; Carvalho, Daniel Navarro do Nascimento
Abstract: Pedagogical activity notebook developed for the curricular component ACCS 2023.1 - Memories of the Struggle and Resistance of the Indigenous Peoples of the Northeast, at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), Brazil. The material focuses on the trajectory of the leader Dona Josefa Ferreira Pataxó, the first woman to lead the struggle for the demarcation of the Pataxó territory of Barra Velha, in the far south of Bahia. Its main objective is to disseminate indigenous knowledge, especially that of the Pataxó People, within the university, promoting a connection between this knowledge and academic training. The notebook contains biographical and historical texts, maps, information about the Patxôhã language, profiles of other indigenous leaders, and a series of activities (questionnaires, writing exercises, concept association) based on post-constructivist learning theories, aiming at scientific literacy and critical reflection on territorial rights, identity, cultural resistance, and the protagonism of indigenous women.

Abstract: The presence of indigenous people in universities plays a fundamental role in promoting diversity and enriching the academic environment. This allows for the exchange of knowledge and experiences among communities and significantly contributes to academic research by applying traditional knowledge to innovative studies. Additionally, indigenous presence in higher education institutions strengthens the empowerment of indigenous communities, granting them greater control over their own destiny, which is vital for the preservation of their cultures and identities. The promotion of indigenous culture and language is also a positive outcome of this process, while the inclusion of historically marginalized groups contributes to the reduction of socioeconomic inequalities. The National High School Exam (ENEM) plays an essential role in achieving these objectives. It serves as a gateway to universities, providing opportunities for students, including indigenous students, to access higher education. For instance, many affirmative action programs with reserved slots have used ENEM scores as a selection criterion, thereby promoting the circulation of knowledge and diversity in higher education institutions.
