    <title>Ecos do Gelo: Arte &amp; Ciência na Antártica</title>
    <link>https://repositorio.ufba.br/handle/ri/41478</link>
    <description>Título: Ecos do Gelo: Arte &amp; Ciência na Antártica
Autor(es): Brunet, Karla
Abstract: This book provides an account of the various outreach activities and artistic works resulting from collaboration with scientists from the Brazilian Antarctic Expedition, Operantar 38. During the time aboard the Brazilian Navy's research vessel, I had the opportunity to work alongside oceanographers, physicists, chemists, and marine biologists, which significantly expanded my understanding of the challenges and beauties of the Antarctic environment.&#xD;
This work is structured in three parts: first, a narrative of the work and collaboration with the scientists; next, the catalog of the artistic works created as a result of this collaboration; and finally, a third part that consists of a photographic essay expressing my vision of Antarctica. The text of the book is entirely written in Portuguese and English. &#xD;
During the days of boarding, I read several books about explorers, artists, and sailors who were in Antarctica before me. The highlighted quotes are fragments from these readings.&#xD;
The invitation to participate in this project and the expedition was extended by Prof. Dr. Carlos Lentini, who, since my entry as a professor at &#xD;
UFBA, has been a constant support for my Art &amp; Science projects at Ecoarte. My entry into the project came through scientific outreach, which was a requirement of the call for proposals. The initial proposal was to develop outreach actions using videos, websites, photos, and social media, as well as, enthusiastically, to suggest integrating art as a fundamental component.&#xD;
The resulting artistic works include video art, rotoscopic video, data visualizations, audiovisual performances, experimental cartography, fulldome projection, photography, and design. These works, as part of an ambitious art and research project, aim not only to document the experience but also to highlight the importance of science and foster significant collaboration between art and science. Furthermore, these initiatives seek to create environmental awareness, raising consciousness about the preservation of nature in one of the planet's most vulnerable ecosystems.&#xD;
In this context, I invite the reader to embark on this journey that explores the intersections between art, science, and our relationship with the environment, reflecting on the discoveries and lessons that Antarctica has to offer.

Abstract: Mediterranean Immersion is catalog in Portuguese, Spanish and English of an art exhibicion about flowing into the sea, more specifically, the Mediterranean Sea. For over 10 years, our artistic practice has involved seas, oceans and rivers. Water is part of life. Free diving, scuba diving, swimming, rowing and sailing are ways to feel part of the water. We have already worked with the Atlantic Ocean – off the Brazilian coast, the Southern Ocean – close to the Brazilian Antarctic Base, the North Sea and the Baltic Sea – off the coast of Norway, Sweden, Lithuania and Latvia. This past year, our artistic practice has been focused on feeling the Mediterranean Sea, a work resulting from my time as a visiting researcher at the Universitat Politècnica de València, in Spain. This sea, the Mediterranean, is a new sea for us and has brought us many questions, scary thoughts, crystal clear waters, salty waters, immigration issues, deaths, concerns about global warming and invasive species. With the body as a sensor, we perceive this sea with our breath, mouth, skin, ears, eyes and feelings. Additionally, we use geographic coordinates and scientific data such as salinity, temperature, conductivity and pH of the water to better understand the environmental aesthetics of the location. GPX tracks, citizen science and low-tech portable meters generated artisanal data and, little by little, we created different narratives of this subjective aesthetic perception of the Mediterranean Sea. Here in this catalog book, we present a compilation of hybrid art, video art, installation, photographic mosaic, interactive map, audiovisual cartography, sound sculpture, recycled material sculpture, data visualization, animations, interviews, and audiovisual performance. Dive with us in this winding sea.

Abstract: Este livro é sobre os 10 anos de práticas com artemídia e meio ambiente. É um pouco de relato, memória, documento e apresentação do Ecoarte / UFBA, um grupo interdisciplinar de pesquisa e arte com sede na Bahia, Brasil. De meados de 2010 a meados de 2020, fizemos vários projetos sobre o nosso território, sobre o lugar onde vivemos, sobre a nossa ligação com aquele lugar. Criamos mapas, cartografias experimentais, instalações interativas, video mapping, sensores, dispositivos móveis, videoarte, arte glitch, visualização de dados, workshops, debates, eventos, ACCS (aulas em comunidades), jogos, etc. Este livro é bilíngue, todos em português e inglês.&#xD;

    <title>Olhares Presentes. Ensaios Fotográficos</title>
    <link>https://repositorio.ufba.br/handle/ri/33042</link>
    <description>Título: Olhares Presentes. Ensaios Fotográficos
