Abstract: This dissertation aims to study the craft of the writer-director who works in the Brazilian market of television fictional series, examining their main tasks, dispositions and creative processes. Throughout the research, the aim was to understand what happens when a professional concentrates these creative functions in the same fiction serials for television, starting from the knowledge of the different roles of scriptwriter and director of serial television drama. Since it was difficult to find studies that detailed this specific type of hybrid activity, it was decided to study the career and analyse the speeches of Jorge Furtado, the renowned writer-director of Brazilian series, who is also a filmmaker and multifaceted author of literary, cinematographic and television works. In order to analyse Furtado's career, which spans more than 40 years, the methodological basis was the concepts formulated by Pierre Bourdieu (1996) and Igor Sacramento (2014). In a complementary way, the analytical work was based on the problem-solution paradigm of Michael Baxandall (2006), combined with the perspective of David Bordwell (2008). Finally, by understanding the burdens, dispositions and responsibilities attributed to scriptwriters who direct, it was possible to draw up a profile of the craft of scriptwriter-director of fiction series.

Abstract: This work brings together three Brazilian documentaries, made by 4 female directors, that deal with the impeachment of former president Dilma Rousseff, they are: Democracia em Vertigem (2019), by Petra Costa, O Processo (2018), by Maria Agusta Ramos, and Alvorada (2021) by Anna Muylaert and Lô Politi. Our analysis sought to answer questions and work with different hypotheses that were formulated from contact with these audiovisual works. This strategy proved to be both a possible working procedure to face the analytical corpus and an internal organization. The dissertation is divided into two sections, in the first, we analyze a specific aspect of Democracia em Vertigem, the unannounced intervention by director Petra Costa in an archive image of the murder of Pedro Pomar. Seeking to elaborate, based on this specific analysis, an interpretative generalization regarding the persuasive strategies that characterize the work. The questions that guide this process are (1) is it possible to recognize this personal trait in other moments of the film?; (2) what are the implications of not announcing the change made to a file photo and (3) what are the characteristics of the photograph that ensure we correspond to the real thing and (3.1) why should we preserve them? Thus, based on these questions, we elaborate two working hypotheses: (1) the decision to edit the photo is based on a rhetorical and persuasive factor internal to the film itself: its imagery appeal, its capacity for similarity and, because of this, its remission to an object or phenomenon external to itself. (2) And the analysis of the use of the photo as an argument within the documentary, or as an illustrative part of it, cannot ignore the creative procedures specific to cinema and documentary making. Thus, in this first part, we reflect on, respectively, the essay film, the internal elements of photography and the dynamics that are inserted and, finally, on the archive image. In the last part of the dissertation, we analyzed O Processo and Alvorada based on an initial working hypothesis resulting from a theoretical digression: the observational style and access to the reserved environment give the observer an interesting place for observation. Consequently, raising material aspects of the two documentaries for discussion based on the questions of (1) what are the privileged points of observation practice and (2) how does the appeal of the unknown political image occur in O Processo and Alvorada? From the questions and hypotheses, we make considerations about subjectivity, narrative and authorship; we discussed the opposite of the official image; we address the camera's entry into the institutional space and, finally, time and observation.

Abstract: The present dissertation seeks to understand and prove the hypothesis that the act of twisting by a romantic pair in a fiction can be considered as an instance of reception, because these groups form Interpretative Communities, based on the concept of theorist Stanley Fish (1992). From the fan groups of the series Once Upon a Time (OUAT, 2011-), our work follows the author's logic by putting the fans by couples as a meaning-making group, in which these communes would enter into disputes to validate the their interpretations, based on arguments that guide their logics, are the past experiences, struggles and ways of recognizing the world, especially in matters of gender and sexuality. The clash between them is also observed and analyzed from communicative concepts that speak of the behavior of the contemporary con-sumer public. Within the speed and quantity of information propagated daily within the inter-net, the phenomenon named "Jenkins, Ford and Green" (2015), of "spreadable media", is con-figured. In order to understand the functioning of the analyzed individuals, we use the "partic-ipant observation", along with the studies acquired in the bibliographic review. The follow-up of the data collected for this research happened in three groups of the social network. It is within this context that the discussions, afflictions and affections of the viewers of the series chosen as object of study spread and gain importance for their original filmmakers. The pre-sent study seeks to understand and understand the particularities of the fans and of OUAT.

Abstract: Over the past decades, Brazil has implemented pioneering policies and actions to prevent, treat, and promote the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS, receiving international recognition for these strategies. However, the rise of Bolsonarism has brought significant changes to the political and social landscape, raising concerns about the continuity and effectiveness of these policies. This study examines the characteristics of Bolsonarist discourse on HIV/AIDS between 2018 and 2022 and analyzes how conservative and discriminatory positions contributed to the setback in policies to combat the virus. The study analyzed 15 public statements by Jair Bolsonaro, his supporters, and fake news related to HIV/AIDS. The results show that the categories "dissimulation words", "vague strategy", and "condition of dramatization" were identified in 100% of the statements. Furthermore, the “strategy of supreme reason,” the “simplicity condition,” and the “credibility condition” appeared in 66.7% of the statements. The results point to a deliberate pattern in the construction of narratives that obscure the clarity and veracity of information, with the clear objective of manipulating public perception and avoiding criticism and responsibilities. The study also highlights actions that have undermined the National STD/AIDS Policy, including the elimination of information in communication channels, reduction of resources, and the emphasis on sexual abstinence as a prevention strategy, all of which are aggravated in a context marked by fake news and harmful conservatism.
