Abstract: This dissertation aims to investigate how the ethical and ontological principles of Yoruba
cosmology guide the ecological cosmoperception of candomblé communities and inform their
forms of resistance and struggle for territory in the context of the Anthropocene. Initially, we
situate the ecological crisis within its global and Brazilian context, presenting scientific
evidence and important cases of environmental catastrophes that illustrate the severity of the
current ecological emergency. We also present the case of the Salvador-Itaparica Road System
as an environmental disaster, based on the current struggle of the communities affected by the
project against its implementation. Following this, we discuss the main concepts and categories
of analysis, developed in the academic fields of decoloniality and postcolonialism, that are
related to the ecological crisis, in order to elaborate a critical bibliographic review on the theme
of decolonial ecology. Finally, we highlight the intrinsic relationship between Yoruba
cosmological principles and the ecological ethics of the terreiro communities, through the
analysis of the narratives of this population in their struggle against the Salvador-Itaparica
bridge, reflecting on the concepts of Iyá, Asé, and Orisá as ethical and ontological principles of
Yoruba cosmology that prominently guide the ecological cosmoperception of the terreiro
communities, in their cosmo-sociability, in their ritualistic practices, and in their resistance
movements for the territory. Concomitantly, we elaborate reflections on the importance of the
ecological cosmoperception of the axé people in the context of the Anthropocene. This
dissertation uses the methodology of elaborating three essays, through bibliographic review,
document analysis, discourse analysis, and auto-ethnographic narrative. And this dissertation
seeks to denounce the Salvador-Itaparica bridge as an imminent socio-environmental
catastrophe of extremely serious impact, which could violate the material reality and the
mythical universe of the terreiro communities of Baía de Todos os Santos and various other
traditional communities, resulting in environmental, spiritual, and socioeconomic imbalance
for the entire population of Bahia.

Abstract: Public service work is circumscribed by social transformations and changes in the world of
work guided by a neoliberal perspective, especially through productive restructuring. This
process imposed a logic of flexibility, institutionalized by the State counter-reform, with an
emphasis on managerialism that reorganizes its structure and labor management. Within this
context lies UFBA, which, like other federal universities, is permeated by the process of
counter-reforms. This movement is materialized in successive budget cuts and the adoption of
a managerial logic, with direct impacts on the work of social workers. Although these
professionals still retain guaranteed labor and social security rights, they face constant threats
and progressive reductions that broadly affect public servants. In view of this, this study
investigated how precarization manifests itself in the work of social workers at UFBA, based
on the following specific objectives: to characterize the socioeconomic and educational profile
of social workers; to understand the working conditions and labor relations of these
professionals at UFBA; to identify the repercussions of labor precarization on the health of
social workers; and to identify the resistance strategies adopted by social workers in the context
of precarization. The research adopted a qualitative and quantitative approach, grounded in
critical social theory and linked to Research Line 02, “Social Theory, Work, and Social Work,”
of the Graduate Program in Social Work (PPGSS) at the Institute of Psychology and Social
Work (IPSS) of UFBA. The research subjects were social workers, part of the university’s
technical-administrative staff, with active employment under the Single Legal Regime (RJU).
Data collection with these professionals occurred in two stages: an electronic questionnaire
(Google Forms) with open and closed questions, answered by fifteen professionals; and six
interviews with participants from units with the highest concentration of social workers. The
results showed that precarization manifests itself in the objective and subjective conditions of
professional work, with varying intensity among socio-occupational spaces. It was found that,
although the number of social workers increased by approximately 65% (15) between 2004 and
June 2022, this growth did not proportionally follow the expansion of demands driven by
programs such as REUNI and PNAES, nor the adequacy of infrastructure and resources.
Consequently, the effects include overload, an intense work pace, pressure for deadlines and
targets, frequent overtime, and severe restrictions on autonomy and professional recognition,
impacting the physical and mental health of professionals and creating obstacles to collective
organization for more effective resistance strategies.

Abstract: In this dissertation, I analyze the social labor relations of Black female professors at the Federal
University of Bahia (UFBA) between 2014 and 2024, a period marked by the validity of the
Quota Law (Law No. 12.990/2014) and the advancement of academic neoliberalism. I draw
upon the articulation between Anticolonial Marxism, Black Feminism, and Decolonial Critique
to investigate how Black presence, although quantitatively expanded, is traversed by dynamics
of isolation that update the colonialities of being, knowledge, and power. I defend the thesis of
a Triple Burden, characterized by the overlapping of two movements of exploitation: the
extraction of surplus labor in the productive sphere (teaching, research, and extension) and
symbolic expropriation in the reproductive sphere (care work and the management of racial
tensions). Methodologically, I adopted a mixed-methods approach: a quantitative stage, in
which I conducted a census of Black female professors based on data from the Pro-Rectorate
of Personnel Development (PRODEP), and a qualitative stage, in which I conducted a case
study with semi-structured interviews, interpreted via thematic and narrative analysis. My
quantitative results demonstrate that, although affirmative action expanded numerical entry,
this expansion occurred as an incomplete inclusion, evidenced by the overrepresentation of
Black women in precarious appointments (substitute contracts) and the maintenance of white
hegemony in permanent positions of higher prestige. On the qualitative plane, the narratives
revealed that the ideology of merit acts as a barrier and that loneliness operates as a technology
of institutional containment, manifested through microaggressions, epistemic delegitimization,
and racism by denegation. I identified that the convergence of these violences results in physical
and mental illness, configuring a state of Triple Exhaustion. However, I conclude that Black
presence in the university dialectically mobilizes strategies of re-existence, through which
female professors forge solidarity networks and practices of aquilombamento that subvert the
logic of isolation, tensioning university culture toward radical emancipation and the
construction of new paradigms of belonging.

Abstract: The silencing of black women in Brazilian society is a poignant reality and serves the capitalist system, which uses it as one of the strategic ways to curb expressive manifestations of autonomy of collectives, whose social places they occupy are of dissidence. This dissertation is the result of scientific research carried out in the Postgraduate Program in Social Work at the Universidade Federal da Bahia (PPGSS/UFBA). The general objective was to investigate the expressiveness of black Brazilian women in the face of oppression caused by racism, sexism, classism and homophobia, and the counter-hegemonic manifestations of resistance to the living conditions imposed by the capitalist system. The following specific objectives arise from this: 1) brief historical overview of the living and working conditions of black working
class women, considering the processes of oppression caused by racial and gender violence with effects on expressiveness; 2) conceptualize “expressiviness” based on the experience of black women in light of the concept of emancipation from the Mourean perspective; and, 3) analysis of the novel Quarto de Despejo, written by Carolina Maria de Jesus, highlighting the socio-historical formation of Brazil and which elements
described by the author were the focus of the collective struggle of black women and activists later on. The theoretical and methodological basis of the research is the articulated debate between: racism; sexism; expressiveness of black women; racial literacy and its counterpoint, the concept of emancipation from the Clóvis Moura’s perspective. The proposed debate discussed the concept of expressiveness according
to the biases of black feminism and demonstrated the relevance of the expression of these feminists in thinking about Brazil. This was a qualitative research that focused on an exploratory and bibliographical investigation, whose object is the expressiveness of black women in the social relations of race, class and gender in Brazil in light of social formation. The research concluded that the expression of black women who, with a counter-hegemonic thought, produce analyses about the reality in which they live and express them, can lead to reflexion, denunciation and emancipatory processes of a collective nature.
