Abstract: Traditional foods are immersed in the culture of the people and in the specific genetic heritage of the region of origin, thus contributing to the construction of the food landscape. The food landscape synthesizes the physical, social, and cultural dimensions of a locality, representing the nexus between people-food-place and is therefore constantly changing. With a view to preserving traditional foods, food knowledge and practices have been registered as intangible cultural heritage at the national and international levels. In industrial property, Geographical Indication (GI) is the most appropriate type of registration for this type of safeguard. This thesis is justified by the evident need to establish scientific bases that promote the recognition of culinary heritage and the importance of its protection through GI, which is unprecedented in the association of Gastronomy with Geography. Thus, the objective of this study is to promote the construction of the food landscape associated with GI, based on elements that portray the dialectical relationship between tradition and innovation in the process of protecting culinary heritage. This is a descriptive and exploratory study, in which Brazilian and Galician GIs were analyzed, relating them to gastronomy. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were used, and the work was organized into three stages: bibliographic and documentary surveys; case studies; and data analysis. Methodological resources included index cards, direct observation, audio and video recordings, field diaries, questionnaires, and interviews. To analyze the results, all data obtained were evaluated descriptively and analytically, applying hermeneutic-dialectical methods, discourse analysis, and mathematical models, which culminated in a classification tree. As a final result, the food landscape associated with GI was constructed and summarized through the development of a practical method, which points to integrated action plans for strengthening culinary heritage. It was established that the factors of originality (territoriality, traditionality, typicality, communality, and co-creation) are the constituent elements of this landscape. In Brazil, the foodscape associated with GI was a topic that was little known or recognized by the social groups interviewed, while in Spain, there was progress in its understanding by the participants, confirmed by the presence of the landscape (in an increasingly representative form) in European legislation dealing with GI. It should be noted that the strong support that the Control Body offers to Spanish GIs can serve as a model for other countries to better support the creation and maintenance of legitimate GIs in their territories. Finally, it is hoped that this thesis will contribute to the protection of more culinary heritage, so that the associated tradition of communal dining will endure and its continued existence will be celebrated, especially by producers, who are the true guardians of traditionally passed-down knowledge and practices.

Abstract: This work sought to produce a geographical, historical, theoretical-conceptual, and methodological review of regional studies and relevant regionalizations developed and implemented in the State of Bahia in the 20th century. The contributions generated within state planning institutions and academic institutions focused on geographical studies, whether universities or scientific associations, were analyzed. Thus, the work was developed following the principles of Livingstone's Geography of Sciences (2003), Vincent Berdoulay's contextual approach (2017), Milton Santos's events (2002), and Sheila Jasanoff's co-production (2004). The focus is on a geography and history of science that considers the internal and external aspects of scientific knowledge production, observing the circulation, rearrangements, and influences of ideas in the dialectic of the encounter between global and local science.

Abstract: The research's fundamental theme is the study of the relationship between breeze fronts and
extreme precipitation in Salvador (BA), going through its genesis and constitution. In this
context, the general objective of this dissertation is to investigate the influence of breeze fronts
on the genesis of extreme precipitation events and episodes in the city of Salvador (BA). To this
end, the following specific objectives were listed: a) Carry out a climatic characterization of the
study area; b) Promote a discussion about what constitutes a breeze front and its differentiation
from cold fronts; c) Study the relationship between breeze fronts and rainfall production on days
of extreme events.
The climatology of extreme events in cities such as Salvador (BA) presents itself as an important
aspect for climate geography, due to the material character given to it when excessive rainfall -
or not - triggers impacts in space. In view of this, its genesis, and the nuances contained within it,
has been an increasingly effervescent subject as an object of study in academia, as well as in
public debate, due to the entire context intertwined in the scenario of climate change and the
consequent , growing media appeal around this theme.
Thus, in order to meet the aforementioned criteria and objectives, the methodological processes
were the collection of precipitation data from CEMADEN, from 2014 to 2020, on a daily and
monthly basis. With this, the performance of percentile techniques to define the extremes.
However, satellite images of the GOES visible channel were also used to identify and
differentiate atmospheric systems, as well as to designate the participation of breeze fronts on
days of extreme events and episodes, through this synoptic analysis systematized to meet the
dynamics of the climate in its usual succession and rhythm. (Monteiro, 1971 and Sorre, 1951)).
Finally, correlation techniques were also used to investigate how teleconnections impact this
breeze-precipitation front dynamic.

Abstract: This study aimed to explore the relationship between solid waste, social class, and racial groups living in areas near the sanitary landfills of Belford Roxo and Seropédica, in Rio de Janeiro. The production and disposal model of solid waste is seen as harmful, presenting unequal distribution. The inequalities identified in the geographic space represent expressions such as "undesirable territories" and "disposable" individuals and places. The concept of Environmental Racism was addressed to highlight the environmental burden, that is, the negative environmental consequences disproportionately affecting social and racial groups. This research mapped the sanitary landfills in the Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro (RMRJ), as well as identified inadequate final disposal sites, such as controlled landfills and open dumps. It also identified vulnerable groups from a social and environmental perspective around the still-existing Belford Roxo landfill, known as Babi. The study focused on exposing the environmental inequality these human groups are subjected to, along with the effects produced by the consumer society. The method used in this research was dialectical historical materialism, a method attentive to the many social inequalities. This method seeks to answer and identify social issues associated with the capitalist way of development, with Karl Marx as its main theorist. The methodology employed was based on bibliographic and documentary research, involving various authors specializing in topics such as environmental justice, environmental racism, sustainability, sustainable development, waste, and spatial production. The research also revealed some well-conducted actions and experiences aimed at inspiring us to chart and create more sustainable and fair paths for both the social groups involved and the environment.
