Breve história da arqueologia no sertão do Piauí (1970-1993)

Abstract

Este trabalho trata da reflexão histórica sobre a materialidade das coleções arqueológicas, buscando compreender a Arqueologia enquanto ciência. Analisa as várias tentativas sucedidas ou não, que objetiva perceber artefatos e paisagens, pesquisadores e comunidades tradicionais do sudeste do estado do Piauí, na região do Parque Nacional Serra da Capivara. Discutimos sobre os vestígios da presença do homem no Piauí, fazendo um breve histórico da ocupação do Estado. Expomos as pesquisas na região, e como se deu a demarcação dos sítios e formação das coleções na região da Serra da Capivara, além de analisar sobre a criação do Parque Nacional Serra da Capivara, discutindo sobre os conflitos com a população local e o debate cientifico. Os desafios empíricos são enormes, mas não podem ser ignorados pelos historiadores das ciências, uma região com tal potencialidade. Finalizando a dissertação nos “carreiros” da Serra da Capivara, conclui-se que a potencialidade regional quanto aos sítios arqueológicos, a materialidade, as lacunas presentes nos registros e historiografia das ciências oficiais, está perante aos olhos, um dos mais importantes patrimônios da humanidade.

ABSTRACT:This work deals with historical reflection on the materiality of archaeological collections, seeking to understand Archeology as a science. It analyzes the various attempts that succeeded or failed to perceive artifacts and landscapes, researchers and traditional communities in the southeast of the state of Piauí, in the Serra da Capivara National Park region. We discussed the vestiges of the presence of the man in Piauí, giving a brief history of the occupation of the State. We show the researches in the region, and how the site demarcation and formation of the collections in the Serra da Capivara region occurred, besides analyzing the creation of the Serra da Capivara National Park, discussing the conflicts with the local population and the scientific debate. The empirical challenges are enormous, but they can’t be ignored by the historians of the sciences, a region with such potentiality. Finishing the dissertation on the "roads" of Serra da Capivara, it is concluded that the regional potentiality of archaeological sites, materiality, gaps in the records and historiography of the official sciences, is before the eyes, one of the most important patrimony of Humanity
