This study presents an experience of school therapeutic accompaniment with an autistic child for three and a half years. Therapeutic accompaniment has been inserted in schools as a tool for the inclusion and support of children with special educational needs. It has historically been influenced by the Psychiatric Reform, which raised important discussions for the treatment of patients with mental disorders; the therapeutic education, an experience initiated by Maud Mannoni which enabled the articulation between educating and treating autistic and psychotic children; and the movements for school inclusion, which led to the entrance of these children in the educational context and to the practice of school therapeutic accompaniment. In this research, inclusion is considered as a political act, but mainly as a therapeutic act, for promoting the encounter of the children with fragilities in building the social bond with others (with peers). Thus, school therapeutic accompaniment consists of the mediation between the autistic child and the others (peers, school actors), with the intention of implicating everyone in the inclusive process. In addition, school therapeutic accompaniment aims to recover the interrupted psychic structuring of the child. Therefore, this research analyzed how school therapeutic accompaniment contributes for the inclusion process of children with autism by means of a single case study. Significant changes were observed in the child accompanied and in his social relations, because he began to involve himself in the activities, games and dialogues with the colleagues and school actors. In light of a psychoanalytical reading, the process of recovering the subject’s structuring was observed, considering the psychic operations of alienation and separation. Progresses were identified mainly in language, in the social bond, in the symbolic play and in the act of learning. Given the considerations elaborated by this research, the school therapeutic accompaniment shows up as an important tool for inclusion and for the subjectivation process.
